The team at Telpro (local representative for Roland) constantly dreams up new and exciting ways for the nation to become proficient and self-reliant with digital machinery – from sign writing, tool and die making and engraving, to fashion and jewellery manufacture.
According to Telpro’s Bianca Cordier, the roadshow is proving to be an unmitigated success.
The Roland machines are set up in three eye-catching, white inflatable tents as they arrive at each town, and are powered by Telpro’s VW truck.
Standing out as the roadshow’s bestsellers are the MPX-90, SP-300i, SP-540i, STIKA- Series and the LEC-330. The SEAL laminator was another crowd pleaser. Favourites differ in each town, depending on the needs of regional visitors, but Bianca describes response to all machines as ‘fantastic’.
Powerful, versatile impact printer
Roland’s MPX-90 desktop impact printer is a powerful personalisation device for appliances ranging from industrial marking to jewellery engraving. With the ability to imprint both flat and curved surfaces across a wide range of materials the MPX-90 is Roland’s most versatile impact printer to date.
Bringing promotional activities to life
In today’s economy everyone is looking for value and that’s the thinking behind the compact Roland SP-i printer/cutter series’ design.
Available in 30” and 54” models the VersaCAMM SP-i is a high-performance production tool for creating colourful decals, labels, banners, posters, vehicle and floor graphics, apparel decoration and just about any sign imaginable.
The VersaCAMM SP-i series is a versatile entry-level device, combining four-colour printing and contour cutting all in one device through one seamless workflow.
Roland Intelligent Pass Control technology virtually eliminates banding, by optimising masking patterns and dot placement at the edge of each pass, and offers print speeds up to 50% faster than the previous models in standard print mode.
Other features include automated maintenance, superior media handling, Ethernet connectivity, and an optional take-up system.
Easy-to-use software
Every STIKA vinyl cutter comes with the latest version of Roland CutStudio,easy-to-use design software packed with features.
From simple lettering, to colour sign graphics, CutStudio makes it easy to be creative by enabling the user to draw and edit circles and curves, add text along an arc and import photos and graphics in jpeg and bitmap format.
STIKA is equipped with the STIKA Navi on-screen operation panel, to make vinyl cutting easy and help maximise media usage. Using the STIKA Navi panel and a mouse, users are able to move the cutting blade into the optimum start position for precision results every time.
Enhancing and protecting graphics
The AquaSEAL Sign Coater, an effective, low-cost liquid laminator for indoor and outdoor signs and banners, is easy to operate. It applies a smooth and even finish to enhance and protect graphics from UV, abrasion, water and chemicals, while the AquaSEAL Sign Coater liquid is designed to run with uncoated media.
The SEAL 44 and 62 Ultra is an ideal first laminator where high-quality, yet low-volume, professional output is required, providing a cost-effective finishing solution for both inkjet and photographic media.
With the AquaSEAL SW3300, users are able to increase profitability with super-wide output and the ability to apply smooth and durable liquid laminate coatings for uniform enhancement and protection of images.
Glossy effects and digital die cuts
According to Roland, its award-winning VersaUV LEC series is the world’s first UV inkjet printer/cutter line that uses safe, low-heat LED lamps.
It’s able to produce one-off packaging prototypes and short-run labels on a vast array of substrates, including metallic and synthetic papers, foils, BOPP, PE and PET film, as well as on leather and fabrics.
Available in two 30” models, VersaUV prints CMYK+White+Clear for unmatched colour, texture and dimension. Clear coat adds remarkably rich special effects ranging from high-gloss finish for area highlights to custom-textured effects such as faux leather and crocodile skin.
For professionals focused on packaging prototyping, the LEC-300 offers remarkable performance features including faster production printing and higher image quality making it ideally suited for short-run production of labels and specialty graphics, as well as prototyping applications.
With VersaWorks RIP software, users are able to achieve professional print quality without advanced skills or previous experience.
It also features the Roland Colour System which accurately reproduces spot colours from Roland Colour charts and swatch books.
When installing the LEC-330, customers can choose from three ink combinations to meet requirements – CMYK+White+Gloss, for the widest variety of applications, CMYK+White+White to print on transparent films for soft package prototyping, or CMYK+Gloss+Gloss for thick gloss ink effects such as embossing and perfect for prototypes that do not call for transparent media.
