The company is presenting an extensive portfolio that spans pressure-sensitive labels (PSL), in-mould labelling (IML), recyclable shrink sleeves and PVC-free graphic films – all created to help converters and brand owners meet tightening environmental regulations without compromising functionality or shelf appeal.
‘We’ve invested heavily in new technology and infrastructure across Europe and the Americas to increase our local production capacity and deliver materials aligned with circular economy goals like the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR),’ explains Simon Huber, managing director of Innovia Films Europe. ‘Our mission is to give customers access to label solutions that are designed for recyclability, resource efficiency and future-ready packaging performance.
Expanding capabilities
A major highlight of Innovia’s Labelexpo presence is the introduction of next-generation BOPP (biaxially oriented polypropylene) label films produced on a new state-of-the-art extrusion line in Germany. This investment not only strengthens Innovia’s European supply network but also allows for the production of thinner, lighter, and higher-clarity films such as CPE and WPE.
These films reduce raw material usage and carbon footprint, while maintaining the durability and print quality converters expect. The thinner gauges also deliver more labels per roll, optimising transport and storage efficiency – a benefit that resonates with converters and brand owners navigating rising logistics costs.
RayoFloat for recyclable shrink sleeves
Visitors will also experience a live demonstration of RayoFloat™, Innovia’s floatable polyolefin shrink sleeve. This material is engineered to separate easily from PET bottles during the recycling process, supporting bottle-to-bottle circularity. Unlike traditional shrink films, RayoFloat™ has a low density, which allows it to float in recycling wash tanks, ensuring labels are removed efficiently without contaminating the PET stream.
This technology is particularly significant for beverage and personal care brands seeking to meet recyclability guidelines such as those set by European PET Bottle Platform (EPBP) and upcoming PPWR mandates.
Beyond shrink sleeves, Innovia is spotlighting new IML and metallised PSL solutions, designed for premium branding and product differentiation. The company’s Encore range of sustainable films, which incorporates up to 35% mechanically recycled content, will also feature prominently. These films combine sustainability with high optical clarity, barrier performance, and durability, offering converters a practical path to decarbonisation without losing production efficiency.
‘Labelexpo gives us the ideal platform to demonstrate how Innovia is helping brands future-proof their packaging,’ adds Günther Birkner, president of Innovia Films. ‘Our strategy is clear: renovate, localise and decarbonise label film solutions for a market where sustainability and performance can no longer be mutually exclusive.’
Circular label economy
Innovia’s commitment to sustainability extends well beyond material innovation. The company is actively supporting customers in designing packaging for a circular economy, from reducing film thickness and resource use to improving end-of-life recyclability. By localising production and shortening supply chains, Innovia also reduces transportation emissions and enhances supply security – a critical factor in today’s volatile global markets.
With a product line-up that blends premium aesthetics, cost efficiency and environmental responsibility, Innovia aims to equip converters, printers and brand owners with the tools to meet regulatory and consumer-driven sustainability goals.
