Its Oh So Heavenly roll-on deodorant container, created for Canway, combines precise engineering with thoughtful design.
Sales and marketing director Sean Kirkham explains: ‘It’s wonderful to be recognised for the hard work and creative thinking our team has put into this product. Awards like this keep morale high and inspire us to keep doing what we do best – doing tech well.’
The bottle’s asymmetric silhouette catches the eye, evoking a boutique product rather than an everyday deodorant.
Teqal achieved a global first by applying an in-mould label on a non-symmetrical, small-format bottle. Sean explains that traditionally this requires complex and expensive labelling equipment, but Teqal delivered already labelled bottles, sparing smaller and medium-sized customers the investment in costly machinery.
The integrated cage-and-cap design ensures leak-free performance and maintains the bottle’s aesthetic integrity even with the cap off. Additionally, this is the first roll-on in South Africa to feature branding on the top of the cap.
The project required synchronising in-mould labelling robotics with injection blow moulding, which was enabled by Teqal’s in-house toolroom crafting custom label dispensers and end-of-arm tooling.
The result is a design that combines technical innovation with accessible, high-quality packaging for smaller players in the market.
