Many of these new options were illustrated on the basis of a jointly developed and produced pack for luxury drinks – the virtual El Drago brand was presented in two versions of a folding carton with high-end finishing.
‘Each company contributes an important part to a packaging of this kind. But only when all the individual parts are combined do they develop their full impact,’ explains Rainer Kuhn, MD of the PrintCity Alliance.
Consequently, the joint exhibition stand attracted great interest with its presentation of the production and finishing of packaging along the entire value chain.
The Alliance was particularly pleased with the high quality of visitors and many contacts were made with brand owners, agencies, printers and manufacturers from around the world. ‘The visitor list reads like a “Who’s Who” of the industry,’ comments a delighted Arno Dürr, sales manager at Weilburger Graphics, speaking on behalf of Alliance members.
Members and partners of the PrintCity Alliance taking part at interpack presented a wide range of exhibits for packaging production, covering everything from new finishing technologies (high-quality substrates, hot and cold foil stamping applications, holograms, effect and protective coatings and pigments), smart packaging and efficient production technologies, all the way to digital printing.
Gallus presented inline printing and finishing systems, Leonard Kurz showed hot and cold foil stamping applications and holograms, Merck presented effect pigments, Canon/Océ demonstrated digital printing systems for packaging printing, Sappi Fine Paper Europe promoted its special papers and boards and Weilburger Graphics presented water-based flexo inks and coatings.
