Igniting the digital and e-fulfilment revolution

There was much fanfare and celebration on the Xerox stand at Africa Print when Ren-Form confirmed its purchase of a ground-breaking Xerox iGen 150 press. It’s the first of its kind to be sold in the Africa and Middle East region.

‘Now, more than ever, businesses want top-class printed materials on a just-in-time basis,’ comments Ren-Form CEO, Tommy Du Sart. ‘As a result, we’ve become solutions oriented, with digital printing paving the way for ongoing growth and development. Until now, a Xerox iGen3 press has handled all our digital print requirements. However, with a rise in demand for more intelligent print and web-to-print solutions we wanted to take our digital capabilities to the next level and the iGen 150 fits the bill perfectly!’ he adds.

Purchased through local distributor, Bytes Document Solutions, the iGen 150 provides Ren-Form with advanced capabilities for transaction data, variable data printing (VDP), brochures, annual reports, cross media marketing campaigns, educational certificates, manuals and textbooks.

Exclusive features include 660mm paper size and print options, a maximum print speed of 150 pages/min, Xerox-patented Confident Color colour management technology and Object-Oriented Half-toning. These, combined with other breakthrough capabilities, allow Ren-Form to offer a wider range of print jobs and more cost-effective short runs.

‘With faster print speed we can increase our production capacity by 25% and provide better colour management and finishes. Coupled with our CGS calibration software, we can also deliver true Fogra-certified proofs and colours that match CI and industry standards. In short, we can offer litho quality in half the time and short runs at a fraction of the cost of traditional printing,’ declares Tommy.

‘As market demands develop then further digital investments will follow. In time, I predict that much of our traditional sheetfed work will be moved to digital,’ he remarks.

Facilitated by Dirk Kotzé, product consultant and colour specialist for Bytes Document Solutions, training on the iGen 150 is currently being finalised. Once complete, Ren-Form’s digital team will be ready to create exciting profit-generating digital and data applications by optimising traditional digital print services and combining them with customised web-to-print portals and e-fulfilment solutions.

‘We’ve launched into an exciting new era in digital printing with the iGen 150 and, combined with our bespoke online web-to-print and e-fulfilment applications, our digital print business is set to go from strength to strength,’ sums up Tommy.
