‘Our ongoing partnership with Kocher & Beck is built on great communication and giving customers specified tooling with unparalleled quality,’ confirms Elvis Ting Chong, owner and founder of SA Rotary Dies. ‘We have a close alliance with Kocher & Beck and wholeheartedly rely on its management team’s support and service and technical product excellence.’
Elvis and his wife, Jessica, began their rotary tooling company in 2001, importing several types of dies and ancillary products. Thanks to Elvis’s previous background and reputation selling equipment since 1995, he was quick to secure supply contracts with several leading local narrow-web flexographic printers. Within three years a repair and tooling division of SA Rotary Dies was established and the company began local manufacture of solid rotary tooling.
The exclusive partnership between SA Rotary Dies and Kocher & Beck was founded in 2001, to offer local customers an all-round die tooling solution; and leading printers have been quick to realise the premium benefits of Kocher & Beck dies, producing precision cut labels on various paper and film grades.
Today, SA Rotary Dies’ base is a modern manufacturing facility in Stormhill, West Johannesburg, where seven specialised technicians complete tooling repairs and manufacturing. Quality service is a priority and Elvis is assisted by a formidable sales and administration team.
Local tooling is produced on a Hartford milling machine and an impressive Challenger CNC lathe, both from Taiwan. Elvis has also recently purchased a new CNC milling machine, due to arrive soon, to manage the increased workload at SA Rotary Dies.
All locally-manufactured rotary dies and Kocher & Beck dies are distributed directly from Johannesburg, and SA Rotary Dies’ impressive customer list includes leading printing companies such as Uniprint, Labelpak, First Impression Labels, Track & Trace, KB Labels, Expression Labels, CCL and JMB Labels, as well as customers in Zimbabwe, Namibia, Zambia and Mozambique.
‘The secret to our ongoing growth and success is our market knowledge and service and die tooling expertise,’ comments Elvis. ‘Our extended alliance with Kocher & Beck proves we’re a worthy and professional partner and they rely on this for growth in this region.’
Elvis is also quick to point out that most new business is generated by word-of-mouth, which indicates that service and reliability are the primary elements of SA Rotary Dies’ reputation.
