‘Self-adhesive labels need the use of powerful adhesives that aren’t always recyclable or ecologically friendly,’ says Siyaka’s head of special projects, Jessica Busa. ‘Shrink sleeves can be produced for ecological benefit and, in certain situations, from biodegradable materials. For example, labels comprising cPET that includes specific inks, which can be removed during a rinse process, allow for a colourless cPET shrink that can be retrieved together with the bottle. Some brands are choosing a retractable sleeve consisting of biodegradable fibres such as corn, which are 100% compostable. Others are opting for perforation on the sleeve, which allows for easy removal of the label when recycling the container.’
An essential component to gaining maximum product advantage is sleeving machine capability. Brands should partner with a converter that can integrate fit-for-purpose design that improves the functionality and speed during the filling process and conclusion of the finished product to shelf. Another key to success is the converter’s ability to provide all forms of shrink sleeving, from cap tamper-proof seal sleeves and full body sleeves to partially fixed labelling with overlapping sleeves.
‘Siyaka offers innovative solutions for varied brand requirements, with product development incorporating global research and development specific to shrink sleeving that improves productivity and performance,’ remarks Jessica.
