On a continent where precision in manufacturing is too often stifled by variables beyond control – from erratic power supplies to vast temperature fluctuations – achieving consistency is a feat of both technical prowess and logistical finesse.
Into this complex environment, Beswick Machinery has introduced a powerful new partner. The Johannesburg-based specialist in capital equipment and services for the printing, packaging and converting sectors has just secured the South African agency for FRIGOSYSTEM, an Italian manufacturer renowned for its temperature control solutions.
According to managing director Bruce Beswick, FRIGOSYSTEM is already the preferred supplier of temperature control systems to several of the OEMs that Beswick represents. ‘The synergy was obvious. By partnering with FRIGOSYSTEM, we’re streamlining the procurement and support process for our customers. One point of responsibility. One cohesive ecosystem.’
Established in 1970 and headquartered just outside Milan, FRIGOSYSTEM has spent over five decades refining the art and science of thermal regulation for industrial applications. Its chillers, temperature controllers and fluid cooling systems are prized across multiple sectors, from plastic extrusion to pharmaceutical processing. But its sweet spot, and the one that dovetails with Beswick’s customer base, lies in precision cooling and temperature stability for blown film lines, flexo and gravure printing presses and complex laminators.
‘FRIGOSYSTEM’s class-leading solutions are already integrated into much of the equipment we distribute,’ says Bruce. ‘From a customer’s perspective, there’s now seamless alignment – technically, operationally and service-wise.’
But beyond the compatibility lies a far more compelling value proposition: environmental and operational efficiency. As South Africa grapples with both resource scarcity and sustainability imperatives, FRIGOSYSTEM offers not just hardware but a blueprint for smarter, leaner manufacturing. Its systems boast low global warming potential (GWP) ratings and impressively high seasonal energy performance ratios (SEPR), translating to measurable savings in electricity and water consumption and the ability to capture and reuse heat – an oft-overlooked byproduct of industrial processes.
‘This is not some greenwashing exercise,’ Bruce notes. ‘FRIGOSYSTEM’s commitment to sustainability is woven into its engineering. Efficiency, versatility, robustness and sustainability aren’t buzzwords – they’re the principles the company builds around. That ethos really spoke to us.’
Strong local demand
While the announcement is fresh, the rollout is anything but tentative. Beswick Machinery already has several FRIGOSYSTEM-based projects underway, a strong indication of local demand. Bruce points to the overwhelmingly positive market response since the news broke: ‘Existing customers – and even some new ones – immediately saw the logic. We’re not selling them something unfamiliar. We’re giving them better access and service to technology they already respect.’
Beswick Machinery’s value lies not only in the high-performance brands it brings to market but in its reputation for after-sales support. With 10 field service technicians operating across the region and a continued focus on skills development, the company is preparing for a seamless integration of FRIGOSYSTEM’s product line into its technical repertoire. ‘FRIGOSYSTEM’s systems are designed to be reliable and easy to maintain. But when customers do need help, we’ll be ready – locally, promptly and expertly,’ Bruce assures.
It’s a partnership that’s as much about continuity as it is about expansion. Rather than entering a new market, Beswick is deepening its offer within a space it knows intimately. For converters and printers managing high-value, high-throughput lines, the implications are enormous. Downtime is the enemy; predictability is power. Temperature control – though often treated as a peripheral concern – is now front and centre in the drive for operational excellence.
Looking ahead, Beswick Machinery and FRIGOSYSTEM will showcase their collaboration on a global stage. FRIGOSYSTEM will maintain a presence at the K Show in Düsseldorf come October (stand 10A44) – an invitation for South African customers to experience the performance firsthand.
‘Partnerships like this one don’t come around every year,’ Bruce reflects. ‘They happen when capability, need and vision align.’
And in a manufacturing climate that demands nothing less, that’s a cold, hard advantage.
